"Demeter and Persephone - the coming of Spring" is the telling of a Greek myth, set to an original score. This kaleidoscope of rhythm incorporates influences from a broad spectrum of world music. Spectacular costumes and masks have been developed in collaboration with Ottawa artists.

Dance, Theatre, Images, Music, Masks and exquisite costumes are seamlessly blended into a unique combination of movement, colour and sound.

Demeter, the Earth Goddess of Greek mythology, presides over the fertility of the fields and the bounty of nature. Using classical East Indian techniques and motifs with sensitivity and reverence, Anjali creates an evocative, thought-provoking and dynamic piece of dance theatre that captures the agony of the Goddess after the abduction of her daughter, Persephone, by Hades, God of the Underworld. Persephone's triumphant return from the underworld heralds the arrival of the first spring. Evocative images are projected as backdrops. The dance and images capture a luminosity and beauty that is truly inspiring.
